CHAPTER ONE

1.0     INTRODUCTION

          This is the way and method of producing different types of blocks, hollow concrete block and bricks are become very popular and the major materials needed in construction works.These blocks are being widely used in construction of residential buildings, factories and multi-storied building. These hollow blocks are commonly used in compound walls due to its low cost, light weight and ease of ventilation. The blocks and bricks are made out of mixture of cement, sand and stone chips.
          Hollow blocks construction provides facilities for concealing electrical conduit, water and sail pipes. It saves cement in masonry works bringing down cost of considerably.
          Also included in this book are the terms and language used in communication in the field as well as the materials combined together in order to get the object made.
          The book also covers the architectural perspective that govern the project in order to produce conducive environment for the staffs and the residents in the environment.

1.1     BACKGROUND INFORMATION

                   A Concrete blocks is primarily used as a building material in the construction of walls, it is sometimes called a concrete masonry unit (CMU)
          A concrete black is one of several precast concrete producsts used in construction. The term precast refers to the fact that the block are form and hardened before they are brought to the job site.

About 150 years ago, the construction of building and other structures were very difficult in Nigeria due to the low level of technological development then.
          The materials used in construction then were timber and mould which posseses little qualities required by building to withstand all the physical and biological effect of the enviroment.
          From the above reasons these materials have limitation to an area where it can be used hence not suitable in area that has rainfall almost throughout the year. Some of the factors that brings about the difficulty in using these materials in constitution work and which eventually leads to little constructiion work in the primitive time are.

I. The material is not easy to get e.g. mould.

II. Its difficult to bring together in order to form wall.

III. Building construction cannot be carryout in raining season.

IV. It cannot be easily work with

V. It's not attractive.

                   As a result of these short comings the need for better and readily available materials for construction works arise and with the help of the improvement in technology which enhance the discovering of cement binder, sand crete and concrete block and able to form the need for block industries.

1.2     MOTIVATION FOR THE PROJECT

                   To provide well durable materials needed to construct good convenient accomdation for the rapidly increasing population as well as to curb the problem and difficulties the buildngs when using moulding construction  work and to provide and abundant building materials so as to enhance construction works in the country.

1.3.    JUSTICFICATION FORR THE PROJECT

                   This project design is not to compete with those already existing project boot to join them in the aspect of production. So as to make materials available for the construction companies and individual fina to carry out their job easily,Above all the primary motive of the project is to make living out of the profit obtwined.

1.4.    SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

                    The scope of the project is simple of it required only four stages as shown below and each stages has to follow each other hierarchically
