Chelsea have made contact with Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal regarding a possible January transfer, reports Bild.
The Blues have been linked with the Chile international for some time and have now sounded out a big-money deal.
Vidal is under contract at Bayern until 2019, but they could be tempted into a sale if the right terms are tabled and the player wants out.

Manchester United have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a potential deal for Lucas Moura, according to Le 10 Sport.
The Brazilian winger has barely featured for PSG this season and agreed personal terms with Chinese side Beijing Guoan in early December .
However, that deal has yet to be completed amid reports Lucas is holding out for a move to a major European club.
Chelsea had previously shown an interest in the 25-year-old, but now United have made an approach, although any offer for Lucas is expected to be below PSG’s valuation of the player.

Antonio Conte has insisted that he will look back on his relationship with Diego Costa positively, despite the striker's acrimonious departure from Chelsea.
Costa was officially unveiled as an Atletico Madrid player on New Year's Eve, but his return to the Spanish club was announced back in September after a public falling out with the Blues boss.
"We won together, so I will always remember him in a positive way. We fought together and won together," Conte said.

Palace assure Hodgson: Zaha is staying
Chelsea's hopes of landing Wilfried Zaha have been dealt a blow after Roy Hodgson revealed that a departure from Crystal Palace will not happen.
The 25-year-old Ivory Coast international has been a key player for Palace over the past few seasons and he has reportedly become a target for the Blues, as well as Arsenal and Manchester City.
However, Hodgson explained: "I have assurances from the club owners and chairman, Steve Parish, that [Zaha leaving] is not going to happen."
'Hazard rejected Chelsea contract for Real move'
Eden Hazard rejected a contract extension at Chelsea, according to his father, who says his son is holding out for a Real Madrid transfer.
Hazard's father, Thierry, confirmed his son is playing a waiting game with his Chelsea contract in an effort to keep the door ajar to Zinedine Zidane's side.
"This was so that, if necessary, he could follow the interest of the Real, whom he could see himself playing for," said Hazard snr.
